What-What?! Week of April 24th

Long week.  Starts again tomorrow. :/

Origami Things

Corwin with his fox puppet and swan.
So last weekend, we hit up the thrift store, and one of the things we picked up was an origami book.  I've done a couple of animals with the children, and Corwin has been very interested in it.  He's actually better at the actual paper folding part than either of the other two kids.
Saffron was excited, not that you can tell from this picture.
Ozzy was very excited, but also very blurry.
Luckily, I found that I have a ton of origami paper, so we'll be rolling in paper animals for a good long while.

Last weekend, it was actually nice enough that we ate outside all weekend.  We had the kids help us with some yardwork; we told them that we'd give them a penny for each dandelion flower they picked.  All told, they picked a total of 324 dandelion flowers -- and there was still more (!!!).  Still, seems like a good $3.24 spent.

What-What?! Week of April 17th

This past week was kind of a slog, like the week before it (and the week before that...).  This weekend, we've mostly just worked on household stuff.  Last night, we ate dinner outside on the patio, because the weather was just too lovely to waste.

Lowe's Build and Grow - Bird Feeder

Thought I took pictures of all three kid's feeders, but apparently not.  This one is Saffron's.  She put a lot of time and effort into painting it.
Last weekend, the kids made and decorated bird feeders.
Reading the directions?  Why yes!
Building...

Reading the directions more.

Painting, which was very popular with Saffron and Oz.

Corwin decided to go play with a big stick instead.

But eventually he came back.

Then they played with bubbles.

What-What?! Week of April 10th

This week was not exciting either.

The kids have all been sick, so mostly it's been just trying to survive the week.

Later today, we're going to do a Lowe's Build and Grow project, as well as heading to the thrift store and some other errands.

Work's been busy; I tested two important bug fixes and actually did a little coding myself.  I fixed a small issue, which actually has made some other pre-existing issues come to light.  Now those things can be fixed too.

So there will be more next week.

Art Thursday -- April 7th

"The Dragon Fighters"
This is actually a really nice picture, but unfortunately the lines are very light.  In the upper lefthand corner, there is a dragon flying around, while in the center are three heroes; a woman who is a mage, a dwarf fighter, and a human fighter.  This was inspired by the Dragonlance books, which Saffron has been devouring this past week.

What-What?! Week of April 3rd

I did nothing this week other than go to work.

Luckily, I still have more pictures from last weekend to post!  More on the husband's birthday, and Easter stuff.

Corey got a Kreo-O Optimus Prime, put it together with daddy, then promptly took it all apart. :P

Saffron got a little sewing kit, and I sat with her while she put it together.
Sewing the carrot.
Ta-da!
Easter stuff?!  Let's dump it out all over the floor!  YEAH!
Opening presents <3
This year, I got the husband a copy of The Ghost and the Darkness, and the Munchkin version of a game called Love Letter, which is a card game based on 'risk, deduction, and luck'.  You have to keep track of the cards that have been played, and plan your moves carefully (there is one card in particular that serves to either win or lose the game for you).  It's a very quick game, lasting about 15 minutes, and we've quite enjoyed it so far.
This year, the husband made himself lemon cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.  They were delicious.
