What-What?! Week of September 25th

My parents are visiting, and we have been busy!  I have a million, billion pictures -- too many to post today.  Probably going to post some today, and more next week.

Nordic Heritage Museum

Take a nice picture of the kids?  Never!

Thursday, we headed to the Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle.  I'd been interested in going for a while now, and it was pretty cool.  There was tons ant tons of stuff to look at, and I feel like we could go back a few times still and see new things.

There were lots of boats, of course.

And a whole lot of vignettes of various stores, barns, and houses, showing how people lived.

Sprinkled through, there were items for the kids to look at and play with.

"Big Jake" the policeman, and a news article about him, showing his size in relation to a regular-sized woman.

The logging area.

Playing with a Dala Horse.

The top floor had a Lego display with renditions of various myths and historical scenes.

Corwin, being a troll.

Playing with Legos at the museum.  This kept him busy for quite a while.

I will post more pictures next week...

What-What?! Week of September 18th

I totally forgot that I hadn't posted anything.  Really, I kind of forgot what day it was.

We haven't done anything worth talking about.

See you next week.

What-What?! Week of September 11th

This last week was pretty quiet -- it was nice to only have to work four days, though.  We never made it to a park or out hiking, but we have cleaned out closets in the anticipation of upcoming birthdays.  So it's nice to have less stuff, anyway.

Yesterday, I taught the big kids how to make breaded lizards:
(From left to right): Mine, Saffron's, and Corwin's

Saffron had some trouble figuring out how the beading part worked, but Corwin got it surprisingly fast.  He was looking at mine and using it as a pattern without me having to tell him what to do.

They want to make more today.  I have a feeling we're going to need more pony beads...

Art Thursday -- September 8th

"Four-Armed Monster"
This is one of Corwin's pieces.  Dunno what's up with the "9*9" at the top -- probably health points or damage or something.  Unfortunately, if I were to ask him, it'd be a 20 minute monologue, which I do not have the energy for right now.

What-What?! Week of September 4th

Last weekend, we went to the Mukilteo Lighthouse and played at the beach there.
View of the ferry from the lighthouse area.

Ozzy refused to be in the picture with everyone else.

The lighthouse itself.

Some history.

There was a giant triangle that all the kids rang.  It was horrendously loud.

Then we went and played at the beach.

Building some sand castles -- these were more like mounds, since the sand here was very rocky, it didn't keep it's shape well at all.

The kids all had a good time, though.

Building stuff with Osric.

There was a rock out in the water that both the big kids stood on.

This is a great picture of Oz pouring sand on Saffron's foot.

There's also a playground at the beach, too -- so we had to play there as well. :)

A big totem out in the parking lot.
