What-What?! Week of July 23rd

Yesterday was the neighbor boy's birthday party, so we headed next door and played with squirt guns, water balloons, and a piƱata.  It was a good time.

Otherwise, just summer stuff this week -- playing in the backyard, going to the park, etc.

I had taken the kids to a park early in the week which has a short trail near it.  We found these wild raspberries along a less-traveled portion of the trail.

We now have an official county park down the street from us, so I took our kids and the neighbor's boy to play over there with our new Frisbee.  It's just a big open field right now, so pretty much perfect for what we wanted to do.

It's starting to get pretty cool in the evenings here, so the sweaters are starting to come out again.

Our Frisbee has the most ridiculous spinning fan thing on it.

This method of throwing the Frisbee was actually pretty successful for Osric.

Hanging out by the trees which surround one half of the park.

What-What?! Week of July 16th

I'm not going to work tomorrow, so I forgot today is Sunday.

We haven't done anything too interesting this weekend; cleaned up the boys room, and gathered up a bunch of toys to go to the thrift store.  Of course, we cleaned up after we'd already been to the thrift store, and came home with a bunch of books... and a Playmobil pirate ship.  That's just how we roll.

Next weekend, we might actually, really, truly do some work on the house.  Maybe.

...Maybe we'll just go hiking.

What-What?! Week of July 9th

So this past week, I did a puzzle:

Ozzy helped... mostly be playing with cars and occasionally playing with puzzle pieces.

Skagit Highland Games in Mount Vernon

This weekend, though, we went to the Highland Games in Mount Vernon.  We had a fairly good time, though Osric wasn't feeling well after a while, so we left pretty early.

Waiting for sheepdog trials.  By the time we left, these still hadn't started yet, despite it being over an hour after the starting time.  So mostly, we watched sheep walk around.

Ready for her closeup.

By the time we got to the firetruck, Osric wasn't feeling well.  Poor sweetie, he was really looking forward to it.

He was feeling well enough to do some crafts in the tent, though.  He made himself a necklace.

Corwin made a shield.

There was a kiddie pool with bubble stuff and bubble wands in it, this was a good time, if a bit wet.

Corwin did not play with bubbles -- he spent the whole time climbing on the firetruck.

After seeing Corwin's shield, he wanted to make himself one too.

We might head back there again later today to see more of the sights -- we didn't get to see any of the dancing, nor the sheepdog trials.  Hopefully we'll be able to go to more events that this group runs, since we got the membership.

What-What?! Week of July 2nd

Summer!  It's finally kind of here, if you ignore the clouds and the days that it's still cold...

Yesterday, the kids did some little painting kits:
Oh, Osric has short hair now... it is crazy how different he looks now.

No, they are not wearing shirts.  Yes, they did get paint on their bodies.

Osric's happy cupcake.

Painting her kitty.

Later that day, we went to a little wooded park on the East side of Marysville.

Reading the plaque on the bridge that crosses the little creek there -- this was built by boy scouts.

Watching the creek.

There were tons and tons of Morning Glories everywhere.

The place used to be a Christmas tree farm before it was donated to the city, so all the fir trees are planted in perfect rows.  Out beyond this, there's a little meadow area, which would probably be lovely for picnics.

The park doesn't have a playground, so afterwards we went down the road to Jennings Park, which does.  We found out that the Marysville Historical Museum is right next to it, and is now open, so we're planning on taking a trip there sometime soon.
