What-What?! Week of May 13th

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

We're not doing anything special, other than just sitting around.

In other news, my youngest has turned six!

Osric asked for battle mechs for his birthday cake

Excited for his gifts!

This is the first year that I haven't had to read his birthday card for him.  He's gotten so grown up!

Monster truck toy, with foam car to crush

He specifically asked for this book -- "The Truth About Hippos".  I am so glad that our kids love reading as much as they do.

Board game -- Let's Go Fishing.  I remember playing this as a kid and liking it.  Unfortunately, Osric is not quite coordinated enough for it yet, so it's a bit frustrating.

And another game -- Yeti in My Spaghetti.   This is a bit like Ker-plunk or pick up sticks, where you have to pull out the noodles without letting the yeti fall in the bowl.  The kids and I played a few rounds of it, and it is actually quite fun.

An Imaginext AT-ST.  He has very much wanted this one -- he's gone and looked at it nearly every time we're gone to Target for months now.

Playing with his new toys

We used the sparkler candles again for Osric's birthday.   It took a lot of work to get all the candles blown out!

What-What?! Week of May 7th

My husband is back! <3

He'd been gone seeing his dad and other family for the past four days, but now he is back.
He left and then the weather improved drastically.

The kids and I didn't do anything too interesting while he was gone; school, playing outside while the weather was nice, and general household stuff.

Several weeks ago, Osric asked me to help him write a letter to Lego -- he'd found an instruction booklet from one of the Monster Fighters sets, and was disappointed that sets from that line are no longer made.  So I wrote the letter, he signed his name, and then very excitedly sent it off to Lego.  This week, we got a letter back:

It reads:
"Dear Osric,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.  It is awesome to hear from such a huge LEGO fan like you!

We appreciate your comments, so I'll be passing you interest in LEGO Monster Fighters on to the design team.  You never know, some of the old treasures might make a comeback!

I agree that the spooky stuff from the Monster Fighters theme is really cool!  It would be neat to have more spooky LEGO models to build for display around Halloween time.  Have you ever thought of designing your own spooktastic LEGO models?  If you do, you should totally share them on the LEGO Life app!

Happy Building!

Osric was so jazzed to get back a letter!  He and Corwin immediately went and started working on some Monster Fighters-esque sets.
