What-What?! Week of December 19th

(This is late because I've spent the weekend recovering from my COVID booster, oof)

 Corwin is now 12!

This year I made a junimo cake -- these are little forest spirit guys from a video game he likes.  Chocolate cake with Bonne Maman 4 fruits jam filling, and vanilla buttercream frosting.  Yum!

The EXCITEMENT!

This game Saffron picked out for him is a huge hit -- one of the things I like about it is that the game master rotates each turn, which tends to be a bone of contention when the kids play other, similar games.

Some nicer headphones -- he's been borrowing his brothers since his died recently

We bought him the most 90s thing possible -- a CD player.  With anti-skip, of course!

Music from Grandma.  He has been enjoying playing it on his CD player :)

T-shirt from his Oma -- this is pretty much him to a  T.

This is the soundtrack to the video game that junimos are from.

What-What?! Week of May 30th

We're celebrating my birthday early this year!  Didn't do too much other than hang out at home -- we had Thai food for dinner, and a chocolate mousse cake from Costco for dessert.

Celebrating inside this year, since the weather is only just okay

Mostly this year I got books, but that's fine with me! :)  This is a Roger Zelazny collected stories, volume one (out of something like eight?).

Very cute Kirby cups!

This is a wool bag for whenever we get back to SCA events.  The squirrel is embroidered, and there are oak leaf and acorn motifs as well.

This is a Sanrio manga, "Fluffy, Fluffy Cinnamoroll".  Very light reading, but nice if you just want to chill for 20 minutes.

This book, "Crooks Like Us", is interesting.  The Australian author went through a local archive of forensic photographs from the 1920s and collected them and some commentary / extra information in this book.  It's really fascinating to read about why people were arrested and look at how they posed, and what they were wearing.  I haven't had time to go through this in detail yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

My last present came in a HUGE box!

Once I wrestled it out, it was a Lego Space Shuttle Discovery!  This thing is BIG, with more total pieces than either my Saturn V rocket or my lunar lander.  The satellite there is actually a model of the Hubble telescope, so a pretty cool add-on. :)  I'm going to have to set aside some serious time (and space) to it.

What-What?! Week of May 9th

 Happy Mother's Day! <3

This last week was Osric's birthday -- he is now nine!  We hung out at home this year, playing video games, reading books, and generally just hanging out.

This year, he chose to have ice cream sundaes rather than cake.  His had nine toppings: two types of ice cream, banana, peanuts, chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, whipped cream, a cherry, and candles (of course!).

Big breath!

You can actually see the smoke coming off in this one

He was very excited for presents

I didn't realize how big this crocodile toy was going to be when I ordered it... for some reason I expected it would be big enough to hold just one pirate, but it actually carries four!

These are some collectible Legend of Zelda cards I got him; the leather booklet is a case for them

Lego Mario accessories!  This was one of the first toys to get played with

Oz was really excited for this book -- the Dungeons & Dragons episode of the show is one of his favorites, and this has a story that plays on that same theme

Donky Kong video game -- this has gotten a lot of play!

What-What?! Week of December 20th

This last week was Corwin's 11th birthday!  We went ahead and celebrated on his birthday.  This year, he picked out a carrot cake, which the husband made (from scratch!) and I decorated.

Excited to open presents!

This is a pretty cool set :)

We got him an enameled metal dice set

It came in this lovely tin

"Mom, you read the front and I'll read the back"

Saffron picked this out for him!  It's this cool ice blizzard wolf fantasy figure toy thing.  He's making the same face as the wolf.

This is a card game that Oz picked out for him -- I haven't gotten a chance to play it with him yet, but the boys played and it sounds fun.

The peanut gallery

11 candles made it very bright!

I have approximately a million blurry photos of Corey trying to blow this one last candle out. xD

This next week is Christmas, so there'll be a lot more photos next week! :)
