What-What?! Week of July 2nd

Summer!  It's finally kind of here, if you ignore the clouds and the days that it's still cold...

Yesterday, the kids did some little painting kits:
Oh, Osric has short hair now... it is crazy how different he looks now.

No, they are not wearing shirts.  Yes, they did get paint on their bodies.

Osric's happy cupcake.

Painting her kitty.

Later that day, we went to a little wooded park on the East side of Marysville.

Reading the plaque on the bridge that crosses the little creek there -- this was built by boy scouts.

Watching the creek.

There were tons and tons of Morning Glories everywhere.

The place used to be a Christmas tree farm before it was donated to the city, so all the fir trees are planted in perfect rows.  Out beyond this, there's a little meadow area, which would probably be lovely for picnics.

The park doesn't have a playground, so afterwards we went down the road to Jennings Park, which does.  We found out that the Marysville Historical Museum is right next to it, and is now open, so we're planning on taking a trip there sometime soon.

What-What?! Week of June 5th

Osric's arm is doing better.  He finally started actually using his arm again last Tuesday, though it wasn't until I actually wrestled the splint off him on Wednesday that he really started using it.  Now he's back to normal.  So that's good.

Lake Goodwin Park

Last Sunday, on a whim, we headed out to Lake Goodwin, which is maybe a 15 minute drive from our house.  It's a lovely park with a playground, boat launch, and wading area.  We didn't go wading this time, but most likely will in the future.

A view across to the near side of the lake.

Across to the far side.  It's a big lake.

Looking at the ducks:

There were a ton of ducklings, all going 'peep, peep!'

This big climbing thing was pretty fun.  The husband climbed all the way to the top.

There was also a big firetruck thing to climb and play on.  I thought I took a picture of the outside of it, but apparently not.

Last weekend, the husband and I also put together a big World of Warcraft Mega Blocks set:
Corwin built the catapult, though.
It has been played with a lot.

What-What?! Week of March 6th

This week was long, and I didn't do much.  Work was pretty busy, since things are now getting fixed, which means things have to get tested to make sure that the fix actually fixed things (sometimes it doesn't) and that it didn't break anything else (sometimes it does).

Lego Myths

Recently, we've been watching old seasons of Mythbusters, which has been enjoyable, and something nice to watch with the kids.  This week, we watched the Youtube Special, which features a myth where a giant (seven foot diameter) Lego ball rolls down a street and into a car.  An edited version can be seen here:

So that evening after I got home, I challenged the kids to see who could make the best Lego ball.  We each made our own design (though poor Oz needed help, since his was just a square), then rolled them down the hallway to see who's would roll the farthest.  The husband won overall, but Ozzy got the award for toughest, since my ball hit his and left it completely unscathed.  This was a fun activity that got the kids thinking, and everyone had a good time.

Not Hiking

Yesterday, we were supposed to have people over, but then that fell through.  So we decided to go hiking...  But then we went to the park.

Whatever, we had fun anyway. :P

Mostly I took pictures of Osric, because he was the only kid who wanted to stay with me.
But sometimes other kids are snuggly too.
I love this picture because none of the children are looking at the camera.
Tried to take a picture of the plants... kind of sucked at it. :P
