What-What?! Week of September 24th

This weekend has been terrible; I was on-call due to some maintenance on one of my work's servers, but a portion of the work took about eight more hours than planned, so rather than being up and available for five hours, I was up and available for that and those extra eight hours, which of course were in the middle of the night.  At one point, I went to bed, but only for about two hours.

Massive, massive suckage.

Also, Saffron and Osric have come down with colds and are moderately miserable.  So we're gonna spend today doing the absolute minimum and watching TV.

Forest Park in Everett

Last weekend, we did hit up Forest Park in Everett; this is a very nice city park, and though it sits very close to civilization, feels pretty remote nonetheless.

The park contains a large playground and a network of walking trails.  We didn't spent very long at the playground, because it had actually started to rain just before we arrived.  Every single slide had a puddle at the bottom of it, so those were right out.

Instead, we spent most of the time walking the trails; Osric had brought along a little magnifying glass, so he was busy looking at everything up CLOSE.

We also saw some people with their pet hawk, which was flying from the falconer to a stand of trees and back, presumably for exercise.

We found a variety of fruit on our walk, including these elderberries(?), some other red berries, and also cherry plums.

Shelf fungus.
